Michael Taylor, our
fearless leader...
Michael spent quite a few years in retail management before finally deciding that being a remodeler was his true calling. However, his former skills managing people keeps us on our toes and so we named the company after him. He used to help people with their weird home problems for fun and now he has made it a full time career. He went to school for industrial electronics so he has a good background for electrical and mechanical systems as well as excellent problem solving skills. His favorite projects are basement remodels and anything electrical.
Holly C Bertsch, the girl on the crew...
Holly learned construction back in her bartending days, when she would help remodel bars where she worked. Eventually she found that she liked the construction end more than the bartending and broke into the construction field. Being a woman, it wasn't always easy to get people to take her seriously, so she had to be twice as smart and work twice as hard. Eventually she joined Michael to start Taylor'd Home Improvements and now guys answer to her. Her strengths lie in product knowledge and thinking outside the box. Her favorite projects are kitchens and bathrooms or anything she can do with a jackhammer.
The guys we always work with (a.k.a.
The Crew)
These are the guys that we always work with. They are often our subs on the project. As you can see we get along pretty well.
To the left is Jim Carroll of All Pro Home Improvements. He's a master electrician and a darn good general remodeler too. He works with us on our projects and we work with him also. If you have any electrical work done his number is (217) 979-1745.
Our master carpenter (next to Holly) is Scott Brooks of S Brooks Builders. He's been building custom homes for over 20 years. Now he has gone out on his own and focuses mainly on custom kitchens and fine finish work. If you have such projects, he can be reached at (217) 202-2197.

We are not always able to do it all by ourselves. We have a wonderful group of subcontractors who specialize in different areas. We work with them all the time so we know they do the quality of work we expect.
Plumbing

It's hard to find a plumber that offers 24 hour service and has reasonable rates. Charles from Express Plumbing is that plumber. He is licensed and insured. He also offers senior discounts. His motto is "When you don't know, call a pro" and when it comes to plumbing, it is just better to assume that you don't know and call him.

Also licensed and insured, we often work with Thomasboro Plumbing. Steve and Steve can take care of all of your plumbing needs. They do new construction work as well as repairs and maintenance. They have done several new bathrooms in basements for us as well as worked with us to replumb an entire home during one of our famous whole house remodels. They did great work on a really old plumbing system and also installed a new furnace and central air. Whatever the job, they are willing to handle it without a complaint.
Painting

Steve Gauze paints mostly new construction, but also paints for us after a remodel. He gets the job done right. He is also gets the job done quickly. Usually painting is the last thing done and marks the completion of the project so having it done fast is a plus.
Septic/Excavation/Concrete
Yerkey's Construction - (217) 841-6628
Todd Yerkey handles basically anything we do that requires heavy equipment. He does septic repair, excavates, even grades lawns and pours concrete driveways and pads for us. He also digs egress windows for us. This guy works his tail off for us and I can't say enough good things about him.
Landscaping

Quinten Bradley does some excellent work. He put together this amazing patio for one of our clients and helped them get their back yard put together. We don't claim to have green thumbs so he is our go to guy for this type of work.
